Professor Luo was an excellent professor, and her teaching style really engaged me as a European student learning many new things. As a European student, I genuinely learned a lot of new things, especially about how to step back and analyze issues from a broader viewpoint. I also found her use of guest speakers and field trips through the course created more interaction between professor and student. Additionally, the exam was well-designed, as it was based on the themes and materials covered in class. Additionally, the open-ended nature of the exam questions encourages students to think critically about the relationships between different events and how they relate to the broader political context. Based on these and other criteria, I would rate Prof. Luo very highly. I felt that she provided a balanced pace for the course material while offering excellent insight into a number of topics. She paced the material well, explained things clearly, and managed to stay professional while also being very friendly and approachable.

I also though of some critique, to improve but I was literally just super happy with the course and Prof Luo. Though I came up with a small idea.

As being a student on my own and watching my friends and colleagues closely, I am not completely sure that presentations still help students improve their skills in the current world/environment. With the strong use of AI, I sometimes feel that presentations have become more of a reading exercise than an opportunity to actively present acquired knowledge.
I really like the homework questions given for each class, so I would definitely keep those.
I am, of course, not a teacher or professor and do not have much experience in designing courses, but as a small piece of feedback I wondered if it might be interesting to experiment with replacing some presentations with structured debates (without phones/AI – Papers with bullet points allowed but not full texts). These debates could also cover the homework questions but might push students more to present their knowledge actively, develop their own opinions, and practice arguing from different perspectives. Which I think is a the essence of politics.
